Floral & Crisp

After successful careers in the Oregon wine industry, the husband and wife team of Laurent Montalieu and Danielle Andrus Montalieu purchased an 80-acre estate to commemorate their marriage in 2000. In May 2002, they launched Soléna by bottling their first vintage of Domaine Danielle Laurent Pinot Noir and, shortly thereafter, opening a tasting room in Carlton. Soléna is the combination of the Spanish and French words Solana and Soleil, celebrating the sun and the moon, and the name that Laurent and Danielle gave to their daughter.

The nose is sweet with notes of orange blossom, vanilla, honeysuckle and graham crackers. Juicy exotic fruits come forward on the palate with flavours of lemon and passion fruit. These flavours linger with white pear and finish with a crisp citrusy, mineral character. Very mouthwatering!

Match it with salmon and halibut, of course, but also roast poultry or rabbit, and spicy foods like jerk chicken or curry.

This product is part of the LCBO Vintages program. It may take approximately 3-4 weeks to be delivered.

A real success at Soléna, this version combines fresh apple, pear, cucumber and melon components with lively minerality. There are notes of lime peel and wet rock, and the wine has marvelous texture right on through a distinguished finish. It is certainly one of the state’s best examples of Pinot Gris. Editors’ Choice

Here's a textbook pint gris that sails a middle course between Alsatian richness and Italian grigio freshness. The nose is gentle and clean with peach, grapefruit and white flowers. It is medium bodied, fleshy yet fresh with gentle bitterness and sweetness. The length is very good to excellent. You will hear no complaints when pouring this fine all-purpose sipping and dinner white. Tasted Oct 2020
