A legacy winery in Oregon's Willamette Valley that has been making elegant Pinot Noir for over 35 years. In 2007, the Rex Hill team joined forces with the folks behind A to Z, another tour de force in the Oregon wine scene, which has enabled this winery to focus on creating boutique wines with a commitment to superior quality. The wines made at Rex Hill are not made out of necessity, but rather a pure love of the craft.

The 2018 Pinot Noir is a stylish wine aged for up to 10 months in French oak barrels. Initial aromas are rich with dark berry fruits and pomegranate notes wrapped in mulling spices that give way to more savoury flavours of graphite, tobacco and a touch of meatiness. The palate reveals dark plums and cherries, subtle but toasty spices from the oak and velvety tannins all bolstered by a verve of well-judged acidity.

A refined Pinot such as this will compliment classic food pairings such as poached salmon and mushroom risotto, but will also lend favour to a veggie stir fry flavoured with hoisin and Chinese five spice.

A meaty and spicy pinot with dark cherries, toast, cloves and roasted espresso on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with sleek tannins and fresh acidity. Drink now

This has a very rich array of deeply toasty spices and reductive, meaty nuances, as well as ripe, rich dark plums and cherries. The palate has a plush, smooth and sleek array of vibrant red fruit, velvety tannins and drink-now appeal.
