Domaine de Bellene is the creation of Nicolas Potel – the son of the legendary Gérard Potel of Domaine Pousse d’Or. Potel is a big name in Burgundian winemaking, and he is known for constantly challenging the borders of winemaking in Burgundy.

Nicolas Potel calls this the 'flagship' white of his domaine operation with some justification, as year in year out, it's one of his best value wines. Smoky, leesy and refreshing, it has benefited from the higher yields in a hot vintage to produce a wine that's fresh and crunchy with understated wood and an oatmeal tinged mid palate.

About the vintage: The 2020 vintage is absolutely excellent, lauded as 'almost a dream vintage' by top UK wine buyers and something that you should snap up while you can – especially since it’s clear that there’s going to be very little wine coming out of Burgundy next year (and at much higher prices!)
It is abundantly clear that 2020 produced some magnificent wines, with exceptional balance, freshness and full fruit maturity, yet that also remain very Burgundian in style. There is very little not to like.

Wine Align - John Szabo, MS

93 points

Here's a nicely composed white Burgundy from several parcels of 40 year old vines on average, with pretty meadow flower aromatics mingled with ripe citrus and white and yellow-fleshed orchard fruit. The palate is broad and ample without any heaviness and the depth of flavour and length are impressive indeed. This is a wine "toute en finesse" as they say, but also with power and palate presence. Fine wine, best 2023-2030. Tasted May 2022.
