Domaine de Bellene is the creation of Nicolas Potel – the son of the legendary Gérard Potel of Domaine Pousse d’Or. Potel is a big name in Burgundian winemaking, and he is known for constantly challenging the borders of winemaking in Burgundy.

Nicolas Potel has a real talent for producing super white wines in so-called lesser terroirs, such as this Santenay lieu-dit, using larger oak barrels to complement rather than dominate the fruit. An intriguing wine with a beguiling profile of white flowers, yellow fruits and citrusy acidity.

About the vintage: The 2019s bring finesse and elegance to the equation without sacrificing concentration. The vintage takes its place alongside other exceptional recent years in Burgundy, carving out a niche for its outstanding balance of intense fruit, firm structure and supple texture.

Enjoy with fresh salmon, swordfish or herb-crusted pork roast.

94 Points - David Lawrason

This is a single vineyard, but not 1er Cru site called Les Charmes Dessus. It is very fine, rich and elegant with a classic, complex and almost custardy nose that involves hazelnut, yellow apple, light toast and wood smoke - all very well bound together. Quite expansive and broad with fine acidity, minerality and depth. Hazelnut, lemon custard and minerality on the finish. The length is excellent. Tasted May 2021

93 Points - Sara d'Amato

An impressively rich Santenay featuring flavours of salted caramel and fresh squeezed lemon. This comforting but also refreshing find has the texture of a Meursault with the pricing of a more humble village appellation. Nervy and opulent at once, featuring excellent length. Widely appealing. Tasted May 2021.
