Powerful & Complex

Domaine Berthoumieu was founded in the 1850s by Virgile Dutour, in the town of Viella in the Gers. After several generations, Marie-Line & Didier Barré took it over in the 1990s to make it an undisputed reference in the Madiran & Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh appellations. On its 25 hectares, this property produces ambitious wines that always combine personality, identity and balance. Claire and Marion Bortolussi, two sisters united in the passion for wine, are now keen to continue this work started over 150 years ago while bringing their personal vision of what the great wines of the South-West are.

This cuvée refers to Charles de Batz who inspired the character of d'Artagnan. This wine combines strength and elegance - a blend of Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon from 50+ year old vines. It's a beautiful, dark red, almost black color. Nose of spices mixed with notes of elderberry, blackberries and prune. Powerful and smooth palate with a superb concentration of tannins.

This full, rich red wine can be combined with many French cuisine dishes, including: pan-fried mushrooms, meat fondues, truffled fattened hen, confited duck, coq au vin, grilled beef rib steak, tournedos, matured cheeses or Camembert, etc.

This product is part of the LCBO Vintages program. It may take approximately 10-14 business days to be delivered.

The top wine from this historic estate is almost entirely Tannat, which gives a strong, dense structure. But the Tannat's tannins are balanced by the bold, ripe concentration of dark fruits. This wine is still developing and will likely be ready from 2022
