The Baud estate dates back to 1742, today the 9th generation manages the winery. Siblings Clementine and Bastien, both under 30, are making some of the best value wines in the area. Jura is that narrow valley in the remote hills between Burgundy and Switzerland, which millions of years ago was covered by an Ocean and today still bares many of the fossils from that time. If you kick a stone in a Jura vineyard, it will probably be a fossil.

L'Étoile is an appellation located near the infamous slope of Château-Chalon, and it owes its name to the star-shapped marine fossils that can be found in the vineyards' soils. This appellations produces exclusively white wines, and the Baud siblings farm 2.5 hectares planted with Chardonnay. This Chardonnay has a very intense aroma of dried nuts on the nose, along with some floral notes; while on the palate is opulent and round, with great structure and a balanced finish.

Have fun pairing this complex Chardonnay with a raclette or with poultry.

About the Winery

Domaine Baud Père et Fils

The estate history dates back to 1742, but it wasn't until 1950 when René Baud, the 7th generation, rebuilt the vineyard which had suffered from the phylloxera crisis and two World Wars.

Starting with only 4 hectares, the vineyard progressively expanded to 20 hectares with the help of successive generations. Now, managed by siblings Clémentine and Bastien, the 9th generation, the estate continues to flourish and grow, with a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture and preserving the traditions and style that makes the wines of the Jura so unique and incredible.
