Full & Rich

There are places where wine is the lifeblood. The Château Deyrem-Valentin in Margaux is such a place. The home of great vintages classed as “Grands crus”, this estate dates back to 1730. Just like his great grandfather, his grandfather and his father, the current owner Jean Sorge carries on the tradition with Sylvie and Christelle, his two daughters. With the terroir, the vines and the storehouse, they combine tradition and innovation to offer the very best quality to lovers of Margaux wine.

Château Deyrem Valentin comes with a delicately fleshy and suave mouthfeel and has an elegant structure with fruity and floral aromas.

One of the most classic food and wine pairings is Margaux with lamb. Of course Margaux pairs equally well with almost any grilled, braised or roasted meat ranging from beef, veal, pork, duck, pigeon, squab and game. Margaux wines are also delicious when paired with roasted chicken, mushrooms, truffles or other earthy dishes.

This product is part of the LCBO Vintages program. It may take approximately 3-4 weeks to be delivered.

93 Points - Cellar Selection

This dense and impressively ripe wine comes from a Sorge family estate in the northern part of the Margaux appellation. With black fruits and generous tannins, it is a big wine with considerable richness. This complex wine will age. [Decant or hold and] Drink from 2025.

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Deyrem Valentin has an intense bouquet with powerful black cherry and raspberry fruit, a light graphite and marine influence surfacing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannin, here a mixture of red and black fruit, quite corpulent in the mouth but with a very pure and lightly spiced finish. This is another impressive wine from this estate that deserves a higher profile.

Deep garnet with dark core. Dark fruit, rocky and savoury with some oak spice still showing. Deep, chewy and full-flavoured. A big wine but all in balance for a long future.
