Fruity & Mineral

Initially planted by the Phoenicians around 600BC, wines from La Clape were highly sought after across the Roman Empire. The first Languedoc appellation to be granted Grand Cru status, today the massif is recognized internationally as a superior terroir producing world class wines. Representing almost 10% of the production of the Grand Cru, Château Capitoul has for centuries been an icon of La Clape.

A distinguished and powerful nose where black fruits and spices are mixed. Its lively and fresh taste develops an elegant and complex structure. The silky tannins slowly blend with notes of roasting, black cherry, black olive and cedar.

Pair this wine with beef tournedos with morels, vegetable tian, Provençal style, tagliatelle pesto and pine nuts, Reblochon, Saint Nectaire.

This product is part of the LCBO Vintages program. It may take approximately 3-4 weeks to be delivered.

90 Points

There's less Syrah and more Carignan in the 2017 La Clape Rocaille than in the Oros bottling, and it's aged exclusively in tank. It's still an attractive, fruit-driven wine for drinking over the next 3-4 years, with the herbal, spicy notes of the Carignan serving to highlight the blueberry fruit of the Syrah, while the Grenache fleshes out the medium-bodied palate.
