Nicolas Potel is an iconic producer in Burgundy. He grew up in a family dedicated entirely to wine; and after gaining some experience internationally, he started his own project in the late 90's.

Founded in 2009, Maison Roche de Bellene offers a complete range of wines, with an emphasis on individual terroirs from vieilles vignes (old vines - 40 years or older) that are farmed responsibly. All of the growers that Nicolas Potel works with are either organic certified or farming according to the principles of lutte raisonée (“sustainable viticulture”). This enables Potel to consistently produce the expressive, terroir-driven style that is his vision.

Meursault is the largest village of the Côte de Beaune, with a history of winegrowing that dates back to the Romans. It is known for producing white wines that are softer and richer than the neighbouring villages of Puligny- and Chassagne-Montrachet. This villages wine is from sustainably farmed vines that are up to 62 years old. It captures the full, rich style of this famous village while maintaining a fine structure.

Wine Align - David Lawrason

93 Points

This is a lovely, maturing chardonnay centred on solid acids and minerality. The nose is compact and complex with pear fruit, fine herbs and spices, and lemon meringue pie/custard notes. It is medium-full bodied with this great acid core and grippy finish. Very stony. The length is excellent. Tasted January 2023.
