Schild Estate own over 134ha of estate vineyards throughout the Southern Barossa including some of the oldest vines in the world planted in 1847. Spread across 11 unique sites they produce a range of premium fruit. Having such an intimate knowledge of these site allows the winemaking and vineyard teams to achieve an absolute synergy from vineyard to winery to wine.

Under the guidance of Chief Winemaker Scott Hazeldine who works in close collaboration with Head Vigneron, Mick Schild the Schild Estate team are passionate in their belief that the best wines are driven by the unique characteristics of each vineyard which makes Schild Estate wines an authentic reflection of the terroir in the region.

Dark ruby, purple in colour with prominent, but controlled aromas of blood plums, mulberries and brambly hedge row fruit supported by fainter hints of dark chocolate and subtle pepper spice. In the mouth the same primary plum and mulberry notes show early. These dark fruit flavours persist and roll in waves out through the back of the palate, always with a clear line of travel in mind and bordered by a fine, but ever present tannin frame.

Pair this wine with grilled or roast beef especially served rare or with a pepper sauce. Also, barbecued ribs, sausages or smoked brisket or grilled vegetables. For the cooler months, this wine sings with big, rich stews and chilis.

This product is part of the LCBO Vintages program. It may take approximately 3-4 weeks to be delivered.

James Halliday

93 Points

Selectiv'-harvested, open-fermented, matured in French oak (20% new). Good tannin structure and balance, plum and blackberry fruit.

Wine Spectator

90 Points

Raspberry puree and black cherry flavors are the focus here, with accents of Earl Grey tea, amaretto and spice box. Shows terrific density to the tannins, which become appealingly chewy on the finish. Drink now through 2033.

90 Points - David Lawrason

From the southern somewhat more maritime Barossa comes a slimmer shiraz with lovely and complex aromas of cranberry-cherry fruit, rosemary/basil herbality, pepper and moderate oak spice and vanillin. It is a very sleek, juicy and fresh style of shiraz but with considerable heat and gritty tannin. There is some granitic minerality as well. The length is excellent.

90 Points - Michael Godel

From vineyards around Lyndoch and Rowland Flat, warm and concentrated Southern Barossa feel and more than ample oak engagement. Both French and American barrels rule this rich and luxurious shiraz, expending aromatics that reach every nerve. Bigger than $20 would suggest, for better or worse but you better believe that “money’s worth” is the obvious operative expression. Drink 2021-2025.
