The Mönchhof (the “Monks House or Monks Court”), formerly a possession of the Cistercian Abbey at Himmerod, is one of the oldest wine estates in the Mosel Valley region of Germany. The very steep, south to south-west facing vineyard amphitheatre of Ürzig Würzgarten (meaning spice garden) is 100% planted to Riesling, all on original rootstocks.
This Kabinett from the Ürzig Würzgarten is classically light in style. Wines designated Kabinett can be made dry but many, like this one, offer a lightly sweeter flavour profile. This bottle features a brightly aromatic nose of herbal spices with zesty lemon/lime citrus and mouth-watering notes of crunchy peach, ripened nectarine and elderflower on the palate. It is a fine and fresh wine with an excellent balance between the fruit and acidity with a refreshingly salty finish.
With its low alcohol and sweetness, this wine will love spicy foods! Sip this in the sunshine with Cajun spiced BBQ Shrimp or enjoy with flavourful Asian cuisine.
