Armagnac is France’s oldest eau de vie. It has been produced for over 700 years in Gascony, an agricultural region in the heart of the South-West. It is one of the most rural regions in all France and delimits on the West with the Atlantic Ocean and on the South with the Pyrenees. The Landes forest, which is right by the Ocean, tempers the cool winds and creates mild temperatures all year round.

Apothicaire de L’Armagnac XO is a blend of 4 grape varieties - Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, Colombard and Baco – all planted on rolling hills across the bas-Armagnac. The youngest eau de vie used in this blend has been aged for ten years.

In the glass, the dark amber colour of this Armagnac is a sign of its long ageing in barrels. On the nose, it has aromas of leather, bitter orange peel, spices and hints of woody aromas coming from a long ageing in 400 litres casks. The palate is rich and complex, round and intense, with aromas of roasted chocolate beans and prunes. The alcohol is beautifully integrated and the aftertaste is long and persistent.

Armagnac can be enjoyed with main dishes such as braised duck breast with honey, or with desserts, such as tarte tatin and candied oranges. A very typical drink from Gascony is the 'Café Gascon', which is an espresso served with 2 or 3 cl of armagnac.

Armagnac is a great digestive and an ideal companion for cigars too. An elixir to be enjoyed throughout the ages!

About the Winery

Lionel Osmin & Cie

Lionel Osmin & Cie started out with just a group of friends with the same keen passion, with the same love for wines from the South West. Then they had an idea to achieve what nobody had ever done before: to create a quality wine-broking house based on South Western wines following the example of other regions such as Burgundy or the Rhône.

With that founding principle, Lionel Osmin & Co was therefore created under the leadership of Lionel boasting the discovery of the unique wines and vineyards of this region. From Jurançon to Cahors, from Gaillac to Bergerac, passing through Marcillac, Lionel Osmin & Co has become the sole transversal signature of the wines from the South West and their vineyards whose secrets which are yet to be discovered!

The result is a range of wines whose characteristics are faithful to the region and which are made to share the joy of discovering the vines and wines that are enjoyed and loved.
