Founded in 2005, Domaine de Bellene focuses on crafting wines from old vines with a commitment to sustainable, organic farming. Winemaker and proprietor Nicolas Potel's approach emphasizes producing wines that authentically reflect their origins and vintages, while preserving the land and culture for future generations. Under his leadership, Domaine de Bellene has earned respect among Burgundy enthusiasts, offering wines from both renowned and lesser-known appellations.

Created to honour Nicolas Potel's father, Françoise, the grapes for this wine are sourced across 5 Premier Cru sites. Ample aromas of steeped hibiscus tea, kirsch, and cedar wood spice lead to broad, well-structured flavours. The mid-palate shows fine density, supported by sleek, well-defined tannins with building grip. The finish is robust and balanced, with a touch of austerity, suggesting excellent aging potential.

92 Points - Michael Godel

A Beaune amalgamated from five Premier Cru parcels as an homage to Françoise Potel, wife of Gérard and mother of incumbent Nicolas. A Beaune of early ripening and picking, quantified in this vintage as the last days of August and ripeness shows. Sees approximately 30 percent new wood and makes full use to texturize and harmonize big fruit that needed to find a home. Only 13 percent alcohol (declared) but this is a warm pinot noir that travels straits to the cockles of the heart. Bit of a hematoma swell as far as Bourgogne pinot noir goes and will certainly appeal to those who like a steak wine bad to the Beaune. Drink 2024-2027.
