‘Wildstreak’ celebrates the maverick that is Peter Drayton. A fifth generation descendant of the famed Drayton wine pioneers, Peter has forged his own independent way, embodying the audacious spirit and the adventurous vision of his early pioneering forefathers. The range reflects his love and respect for the tradition that is the Hunter Valley as well as the future and optimism that it embodies.
Beautifully developed aromas of caramel and vanilla extend on the nose alongside notes of dried apricots and orchard fruits. The palate is very textural thanks in part to extended lees contact and oak ageing. Soft, buttery flavours unfold with hints of honey dew melon underscored by a distinct mineral tone. The palate is supported by a wild streak of acidity which tames the density of fruit, drawing out the finish.
This wine will feel friendly alongside a cheese board or it will be right at home paired with brined and roasted whole chicken.
