2 bottles x Tessari Grisela Soave Classico DOC 2021 (Veneto, Italy)
White | Garganega

91 points - Wine Align

Wines from Soave are made with the local grape Garganega. Cantina Tessari has its vineyards in the volcanic hills above il Castello di Soave, which is the original - or 'Classico' - wine growing area in Soave, the best vines are located here.

Tessari’s golden straw coloured Grisela is the backbone of the vineyard; a delicious entry level wine that is meant to be enjoyed on any occasion. Melba toast, elderflower and chamomile aromatics fill the glass with a notable mineral quality. The taste of crushed seashells dance on your tongue with a fun duo of stone fruit and citrus. The finish is refreshing with balanced acidity.

Pairing suggestion: Grisela is excellent as an aperitif and for accompanying rich Italian seafood recipes and risottos.

2 bottles x La Vinyeta Blanc DO Empordà 2021 (Catalonia, Spain)

White | Macabeo, Malvasía, Grenache Blanc

Nestled in the heart of Empordà, La Vinyeta is a small production winery and olive grower driven by a young spirit of hard work and big dreams. Today, La Vinyeta is one of the most highly regarded projects in the area, not just for the quality and diversity of the wines but also for their dynamism, humility, and commitment.

This is a white blend made from old vines of Macabeo (60%), Grenache Blanc (30%), and Malvasia (10%). The vineyards are organically farmed, without artificial irrigation.

On the glass, it has a yellow colour with green tones, sign of its youthfulness. On the nose, it has a high aromatic intensity, combining fruity notes of pineapple and stone fruit, with a final persistence of citric aromas. The palate is fresh, with a vibrant acidity and a salty hint of the calcareous soils.

Pairing suggestion: Pair this wine with roast fish with cannellini beans and green olives

2 bottles x Zuani Pinot Grigio Sodevo 2021(Friuli, Italy)
White | Pinot Grigio

91 points - Wine Align

Zuani is a family-owned winery in the Collio DOC of Friuli Venezia Giulia specializing in terroir-focused white wines. Set in the hills of Giasbana in the far northeastern corner of Italy, the influence of bordering Austria and Solvenia can be felt on the estate and sensed through the style of Zuani's wines.

This Pinot Grigio's elegant and refined aromatic profile shines with a tangy and mineral taste. It's dry, with brilliant acidity and a bitter almond finish.

Pairing suggestion: Bring out the antipasto and a grilled fish for this one! Also pairs well with risottos and baked vegetables.

2 bottles x Maison Nicolas Idiart Espérance Rosé 2021 (Languedoc-RoussillonFrance)
Rosé | Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah

Espérance Rosé exemplifies the Mediterranean lifestyle and 'Joie de Vivre'. The idea is to offer a pure expression of the Mediterranean: a rosé blend made with traditional grape varieties from the South of France: Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah.

This exquisite rosé has aromas of rose petals and sweet English candy on the nose. On the palate, it's fresh, nicely balanced and savoury, with notes of citrus on the finish.

Pairing suggestion: The Espérance Rosé will turn any charcuterie and cheese boards, fresh salads, light pastas, or cold appetizers into a slice of gastronomic heaven.

2 bottles x Cascina Castlèt Barbera D'Asti 'Vespa' 2021 (Piedmont, Italy)
Red | Barbera

Cascina Castlèt has belonged to the Borio family for generations; Mariuccia, the current owner, inherited it from her father in 1970. Mariuccia focuses on her terroir and the local varieties. The vineyards of the estate are spread over 31 hectares, and are all located in Costigliole d'Asti.

The clusters of Barbera were hand-harvested and unveil a rather aromatic wine with a crunchy fruitiness. The wine evokes blackberry and cherry on a delicately floral background. Balanced and delectable, there is even a subtle note of minerality.

Pairing suggestion: A wine that will pair perfectly with white and red grilled meats, salami and young cheeses.

2 bottles x La Vinyeta Negre DO Empordà 2020 (Catalonia, Spain)
Red | Carignan, Grenache

This is a red blend made from old vines of Carignan (65%), and Grenache (35%). The vineyards are organically farmed, without artificial irrigation.

On the glass, it has a cherry colour with violet tones. On the nose, it has a high aromatic intensity, combining aromas of ripe red fruit and lactic notes. On the palate, it is meaty, with nicely integrated tannins, medium-bodied, and with a great acidity.

Pairing suggestion: Pair this wine with chorizo and chickpea braised chicken thighs.

About the Winery

Azienda Agricola Tessari

The Tessari family have Soave in their blood. For three generations they have been extracting delectable wine from the well cared for vines of their Monteforte d’Alpone vineyards. With only a little over a hectare of Garganega grapes in the prestigious volcanic solis of Soave Classico, Antonio Tessari hand dug his cellar back in 1933 and started the legacy that continues today with his grandchildren: Germano, Antonio and Cornelia.

From vineyard to bottle, these three siblings oversee it all; with unwavering respect for tradition, quality and passion for the art of winemaking. The volcanic soils of the hillside are rich with basaltic rocks and clays, which guarantees the health of the plant and the promotes the mineral and floral aromas that are characteristic of the Garganega grape. Truly artisanal wine making at it’s best.

Cascina Castlèt

Cascina Castlèt has belonged to the Borio family for generations; Mariuccia, the current owner, inherited it from her father in 1970. Mariuccia focuses on her terroir and the local varieties. The vineyards of the estate are spread over 31 hectares, and are all located in Costigliole d'Asti.

Celler La Vinyeta

La Vinyeta is a relatively new company, established in 2002 in the centre of the Alt Empordà region, in Mollet de Peralada, a township devoted to the cultivation of vineyards and olive trees. The project started with the acquisition of a couple of old stocks, between 55 and 80 years old, of the Samsó and Garnacha varieties. Since then more vines have been planted, and La Vinyeta cultivates a total of thirty hectares.

In 2009, La Vinyeta became one of the first wineries to adopt Integrated Production, an environmentally friendly cultivation system. The team at La Vinyeta possesses an innovative spirit and likes to share with others their knowledge of wine and the wild landscape that surrounds them.

Maison Idiart

Maison Idiart is a wine négociant based in Bordeaux and established in 2013. Nicolas Idiart, winemaker and founder of Maison Idiart, grew up with a passion for wine, something that he shared with his father and grandfather.

He graduated from Bordeaux winemaking school in Blanquefort at 19 years old. Nicolas' love for Loire wines took him to work in Chinon, Touraine and Muscadet. He also had experiences in Australia and New Zealand. After several years travelling the world, he decided to shift his work in the industry and work in sales, focusing in North America.

At 33 years old, after 7 years working in sales, he decided to go back to winemaking with an artisan approach, making small batches of handcrafted wines.

Zuani

Zuani winery is located in the heart of Collio, Friuli, a hidden appellation between the Adriatic Sea and the Alps. Coming from a long tradition of winemakers in Croatia that goes back to the 19th century, Patrizia Felluga saw her dream come true when she acquired the estate and the vineyards in 2001. Today, her son and daughter have taken over the winery; producing exclusively white wines. Everything hinges on one exceptionally well exposed “cru”, or vineyard, on a gentle hillside where about eleven acres of vines and gardens surround the Zuani cellar.

The varietals planted are Tocai Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon, a carefully chosen range that produced the first vintage of Zuani Collio Bianco. The Zuani winery embodies the Felluga family winemaking heritage and expresses the fundamental unity of the traditional aspects of Friulian varieties with their more modern side.
